Introduction: The Planets is a program that places the nine planets of the solar system and the moon Io, Jupiter's volcanic moon, on your desktop. When you select a planet or moon, you can also select Planet Info under the File option to learn more about it. If you don't want all of the spheres on the desktop at once, you can select the ones to get rid of. Then, pick Close Planet under the File option. Just keep your favorites in view. You can also stop a planet's animation by using the File option or keyboard commands. The folder contains bonus 32-bit, Mac OS X-compatible icons of the planets and the moons.
