Introduction: Talking Dictionary is a speech-enabled 250,000-word English dictionary and thesaurus is based on the Wordnet 2.1 database and contains over 250,000 words. These include historical figures, slang and jargon. The program has been designed for use by the non-sighted person. All of the controls are easily remembered keyboard shortcuts. New The program includes the following features: fully updated with 8,500 new word definitions and synonyms from Princeton University's dictionary database; it can be used within other Windows programs; it can be minimized to system tray; the spell-checker has been rewritten and improved; and it can be used to search for words when letters are missing from the input; the text size can be adjusted. If you have a screen reader you prefer to use, Talking Dictionary can be used with it. Note that the program does not require a screen reader as it has its own built in speech functions. Talking Dictionary comes with a standard Windows help file, a plain text help file and a rich text format user manual. MP3 audio instructions can be downloaded from our Web site.
