Introduction: Extended Stored Procedure class for VC++ is a function packaged as DLL, developed by using C/C++ or Delphi (or any other compiler which supports export of functions). Sure, and all of Microsoft Win32 API can be used there. This kind of functions uses Open Data Services API to send result sets and output parameters back to the SQL Server's client from a variety of external data sources. So extended stored procedures can do things what are impossible to be done with only T-SQL: work with files, perform complex evaluations, etc.
