Introduction: Archive Searcher is the perfect tool if you store thousands of important files in compressed archives. As you probably know, the Windows Find File function isn't equipped to search inside archives. While it can find the archives themselves, you still have to spend time manually loading them to locate the items you need. Until now. Archive Searcher is a specialized tool for finding directories and files located in ZIP, RAR, ACE and CAB archives. At its simplest, you can enter in a filename and the program will tell you exactly where it is. Archive Search is capable of scanning entire local and removable drives, though you may easily target specific folders and subfolders. In addition, you can entera wildcard to retrieve files of a particular format. Results are concisely displayed on Archive Searcher's main interface. Each result includes a name, archive location, date, size and path inside the archive. An excellent feature is that the program offers direct access to the archive that contains a desired item. You'll simply need an application that's compatible with the archive you want to open, whether it's WinZip, WinRAR or WinAce. Though searches cannot be saved to disk, the program saves past keywords to a drop-down list.
